[In honor of the Earth holiday centering on love, Freya sends out a little gift around this time.

A small box containing a piece of chocolate will appear on your pillow during the day. When consumed, the chocolate’s magic will lift your mood for a short period of time. It’s accompanied by a note.]

Where love might bring about sorrow, it also welcomes joy.

[ In honour of the god centering on love being a giant frilly prissypants, Loki sends his own little gift just a few hours after hers.

His box of chocolate will look, smell, and taste exactly like Freya's did, appearing right next to where Freya's was or is if you haven't picked it up yet. The only difference between the two is that Loki's won't lift your mood; it'll give you loud and embarrassing flatulence for the next three hours.

It's also accompanied by a note. ]

Where joy might bring about yearning, it also welcomes wonder.

Brooooooooooo. [ he's slurring, wow. so surprise, much shock. ] You're my brother, you know, for real. My real, honest-to-goodness blood. Your words, but it's, you know. We do have the same dad, I mean, in a way. Whatever.

[ a long pause ]

Remember when I said Angel would want us to get on? That was kind of just an excuse to hang out with you. It's late, huh? Is that the real time?

[ What the actual fuck.

Gunn is able to listen to the message without waking Fred up, somehow, and he's grateful for that -- but he's still baffled beyond belief. So he calls the hologram up, squinting sleepily at it, before shooting a message in response just minutes later-- ]

you need to talk about something man?

spike. are you, uh, feeling alright?

just peachy, charlie brown. what's got you up at this hour?

[ his little cat tennyson scampers across the floor and spike grimaces, looking over at gunn. he feels like he's overstepping, even if he had been invited. that was by fred and he still feels like a douche where charles is concerned. which is why he's acting fidgety and weird even if he has stayed over here enough times before. ]

Can I make you some tea or... something? [ was that weird? asking a guy if he wanted tea in his own house? is he sweating? what the fuck is wrong with him!!!!!!!!!!! ]

[ Gunn cuts his eyes briefly up to the cat, before turning them back down to the comic book propped in his hand. It's not from their world - some hero that he's never heard of in a bizarre art style, but he'll give most things a shot once.

Spike's voice drags him out of that, though, and his expression is almost confused when he glances his way. ]

Do I look like I drink tea?

[ But it's vaguely amused, not angry or confrontational. ]

[ he snorts at that, then shrugs. he's english, what does he know? ] Coffee then. Or what passes for it in this place.

[ spike gets up before he's heard an answer, realizing he should have waited seconds too late, and now he's just standing awkwardly in the middle of the room awaiting instruction. ]

[ Gunn stares at him, wordless and confused as Spike stands, before he leans forward and rests his forearms against his thighs. He's squinting at him now, as if trying to suss something out. ]

Hold up a second. You wanna tell me what's eating you?

Do I look like Gilbert Grape? [ he shrugged, heading into the kitchen anyway. ] You take it black?

[ his head pops out of the doorway to look back at gunn. ] That wasn't racial.

Don't know - you might be Gilbert Grape, for all I know.

[ But he's getting up, heading toward the kitchen and shaking his head. ]

Relax. I can make my own.

[ he leaned up against the counter as gunn walked in, then popped up onto the edge, getting out of the other man's way. ]

Wasn't going to drug you or anything, you know.

Don't remember accusing you of that. [ He shot him a slightly incredulous look, before moving to grab a glass out of a cabinet. ] Seriously. I make you uncomfortable or something?

[ He doubted that was the case, but if he's going to get anything out of him, it has to start somewhere, right. ]

What? No... [ and he didn't. spike scrunched his face up, hands falling to his knees as he swung his legs idly back and forth. ] No.

Did Fred talk to you? About me... staying here? More permanent-like. [ his gaze darted around a little, but he was trying not to focus on anything but charles. ]

... yeah.

[ He's quiet for a moment, even as he fills up his glass with water from the tap nearby, before taking a sip and turning his back to the sink. He leans on it, even if he doesn't quite hop up on it like Spike does. ]

She might've mentioned something about it. You seriously considering it?

[ He keeps his tone carefully neutral. ]

[ he looked down at his knees and shrugged. ]

Yeah? I mean... Only if you're cool with it, obviously. I'm used to living in tight quarters these days.

Actually, always have been. [ aka even his small flat in thor had become vacuous and lonely. esp since he kept losing suitemates. ]

Well.

[ He takes a long drink from the glass, eyebrows knitting thoughtfully. ]

We've got the extra room. And Fred likes having you around. [ Gunn pauses, seeming to deliberate, and then: ] You play video games at all?

[ that gets a grin, his head popping up. ]

Hell yeah. Watchu got? Mario? Grand Theft Auto?

[ The grin seems to put him a little at ease, and he shrugs one shoulder. ]

Some fightin' games, mostly. Let me know when you feel like getting your ass beat and I'll show you.

[ he hopped up like let's get to it! but then he's frowning, the words catching up to his understanding. he's not that quick okay. spike gestured to himself, vaguely, frown turning confused. ] Does that mean...? [ i can stay? ]

[ Hey, Fred wanted it, right? He never had a chance. ]

Like I said, man: we've got an extra room. Safety in numbers, right? I gave Angel a chance.

And look how well that turned out for you. [ oh god why does he speak. spike grimaced - big, looking down at his boots. but he's attempting to recover quickly, swallowing and looking back up - a little lost but mostly with it. as with it as spike ever gets. ]

Sorry. Old habits die hard.

[ Gunn simply shakes his head, lifting his own hand to try to wave it off. ] Hey, he and I don't always see eye to eye either. But - and I can't believe I'm saying this, trust me - but we've got enough fights without picking even more. Look: I'm down with seeing how it goes. Maybe not as roomy as the hotel, but...

Wouldn't want to stay in that dusty hotel anyway. [ it's too quick, but gunn doesn't know about wolfram & hart. he doesn't know how badly angel fucked it all up. spike swallows, looking down again, balling his fists at his sides. he's angry, for what happened to gunn because of angel. he's even angrier that he can't say a word about it. all he wants is to be here, with two people he actually gives a shit about. ]

Just give us a chance, yeah? [ slowly his eyes flick back up, and he lets go of the tension in his hands. ] You won't even know we're here.

[ The anger catches him off guard, and briefly he wonders what Spike knows, if there's something they're not being told. And then, without having to dwell on it, he thinks - yeah. Of course there's something they're not being told. The future never seemed particularly pretty on paper, did it? But they had to persevere, and so they would.

He shrugs, hands up. ]

Not a problem, dude. Just let me know if you need help moving, right?

[ And then he'll mock-punch Spike's upper arm, before making a face and shaking his head, apparently intending to head back to the couch. ]

-- that was awkward. I won't do that again.

[ he looks down at his arm, staring for seconds after gunn has already started for the other room. then he just - laughs. it's a little abrupt, but it's a good laugh. it's good to laugh, at all. ]

It wasn't so bad. Probably will take you up on that moving thing, though.

[ He's cracking up a little himself as he stretches his arm over the back of the couch, shaking his head. ]

Yeah, no problem. Welcome house's just about empty, anyway, isn't it?

...Guess it is. Stopped getting attached to my suitemates, I'll say that much.
